Notes: Associated with Lodgepole pine (Pinus contorta).


In hand, with irregularly-sized scales without warts, flaking off at top.
Bottom of basal tuft, easily breaking off.
In situ.
Broken open. Purple gleba with white fibrous threads. Solid, firm. Base more a pedicel, like a golf tee. Peridium stains bright red.
