introduced here. I was alerted to this fruiting by a local person wanting an ID. The site is a greatly disturbed area of several acres surrounded by national forest that has been used for a gravel pit, dumping area during a highway upgrade, roadkill dumping site etc.. And of course there are quantities of woody debris. I had never encountered this species in the flesh before.
We sometimes see this eastern sp. in CA as well, but it is very rare and not native.
