re Suillus at Kuo, M. (2004, November). The genus Suillus. Retrieved from the MushroomExpert.Com Web site: http://www.mushroomexpert.com/suillus.html Your specimen has at least 3 of the factors that lead one to call it Suillus: slimy or once slimy cap as evidenced by the sticking debris, growth under conifers, and partial veil that leaves a ring or tissue hanging from the margin. I think S. grevillei is promising despite the fact that you got no bruising (maybe a old, dry specimen?) due to the small yellow angular pores, the yellow red cap slimy surface, and red brown stem see obs 145281.

Suillus???

First of all, reticulation rather than glandular dots on stipe. Second, w.r.t. the specific suggestion of S. greveillei, something damaged the pores (ate chunks of them from the look) and there’s no apparent bruising reaction at the edge of the damaged area at all, even though it likely happened at least hours before I got to the specimen, if not days.

in the area? S. grevillei is mycorhizzal with larch and tamarack. Also, its pores bruise brownish as does the flesh of the cap and stem when cut.

This looks like a Suillus to me…

except the only NA Suillus which are reported to occur with reticulations on the stipe are west coast species.
