Found on ground, probably blown off old-growth trees nearby. Base dark brown, black underneath. Light-brown cup-shaped structures above. Did not seem to be a lot on the ground, either recycled quickly or eaten? Jason?


Thallus dark brown, crisp, black beneath. Light brown cup-shaped structures largely obscuring thallus. Stringy hairs mixed into mass.

Recognized by sight: just going by gestalt… this is not a very healthy specimen of whatever it is, I’m afraid!… on further thought, maybe this is Esslingeriana idahoense… there’s just no way to tell…
