Observation 146581: Hypomyces (Fr.) Tul. & C. Tul.
When: 2013-09-26
No herbarium specimen

Notes: The specimen was squishy, it felt wet. It had neither gills nor pores but what looked like veins. Height-3.5", Width-1.5".

It was white when I first picked it, then was brown when I took it out when I got home, so brown-bruising.

When I cut it in half, there was a little section of gill/pores near where they usually are.

Unfortunately I was on a trip and I will not be back to the area anytime soon, this one really stumped me, but you’re right, it does seem like it’s the immature state.

interesting

are you able to revisit this? more mature specimens may show a more decisive hymenium.
