This was the second mycorrhizal species I attempted to cultivate at Paul Bishop’s Jones Creek Tree Farm, and the results were rather astounding to me. Within 2 weeks after inoculating, there was a massive flush of thousands of mushrooms under or near many 6-foot Douglas-fir that were being grown as Christmas trees. The presence of quantities of truffles caused Paul to leave most of these trees, and turn the stand instead into a timber plantation in front of his home. Paul was just awarded Woodlot Tree Farmer of the Year for Clackamas County, and now goes on to compete for Oregon Tree Farmer of the Year. Congratulations, Paul!
