which shows an unusually robust deposit atop the basal bulb. About A. flavoconia, Amanita Studies reports, “Yellow-orange volval remnants are present as fragmented warts and patches on the lower stem and top of the bulb, they can often be left behind in the soil during collection.”

Assuming for the moment that this description applies to the specimen in the obs, the deposit actually looks like a partially buried volval sac… !
