Observation 147103: Cortinarius (Pers.) Gray
When: 2013-10-02
No herbarium specimen
0 Sequences

Only found one specimen, at base of large tree, next to major root. Dug 5 inches worth of stipe, and hoped that would be enough. Stipe went under the root.

While many Phaeocollybia are noted for grouping together, this was a solitary specimen.

Very scaley stipe, mostly underground. I only excavated 5 inches.
Strongly inrolled cap, cortina still visible, mucilage on cap and stipe.
White, yellow, orange and red tones in cap. Excessive rainfall may have affected color.
