I’m fairly certain I have encountered Ossicaulis in the past, and mis-IDed it as Hypsizygus. The one seen in this obs was growing inside a hollowed tree trunk.

No, it’s older name was Pleurotus abscondens, a reference to its usual habit of growing inside hollow logs and stumps. It is not as robust as H.ulmarius.
