Observation 147511: Polyporales sensu lato

When: 2013-10-06

Collection location: MP 14.5 E. Larch Mountain Rd., Multnomah Co., Oregon, USA [Click for map]

Who: Daniel B. Wheeler (Tuberale)

No specimen available

In hand.
Close-up of what should be hymenium. Just looks black to me, with white specks (fungus?).
Used my pen knife to expose some cap flesh: dull flesh-colored to dull brown. Very hard. Would need an axe to reach the center of this 4 inch specimen. I don’t think it would split as easy as, say, Oregon White oak.
