Observation 147702: Scleroderma Pers.

When: 2013-10-08

Collection location: 7700 SE Stephens, Portland, Multnomah Co., Oregon, USA [Click for map]

Who: Daniel B. Wheeler (Tuberale)

No specimen available

Growing in my backyard, from a neighbor’s bronze beech tree. Interesting, in that the beech was cut down nearly a year ago, but the mycorrhizal fungi with it are still fruiting.

Pink cap. Could be S. areaolatum.
Detail of peridium.
Blue with white gleba.
Additional sporocarps in situ. There are probably 15 fruiting here, all within 10 feet of the stump.
