BEIJING, May 13 — Li Weixiang, a villager from Hanping in Hongya county, Sichuan Province hefts a huge wild lingzhi mushroom that weighs 18.5 kilograms, and is 61.5 centimeters wide, 17 centimeters thick and 35 centimeters high.

Because of its alleged health benefits, the lingzhi mushroom is highly prized and known as “the mushroom of immortality.” The market price of a large wild lingzhi mushroom such as Li’s is over 3,600 yuan ($527) per kilo. Li said he found it growing from an old fir tree.

from a stock photo? does that really count?

you know, this is no different than folks taking pictures of that big fish that they caught … record of an amazing find, measured on a human scale.

very nice photo from a Chinese photographer, BTW, and a nice portrait of both fungus and proud finder.

not a reason for mockery, in my book.

our libraries must vary.
