Just to let you know that we find both species in the Pine Barrens, and given that pine is the dominant tree, H. capnoides should in theory be more common. The flash of my old camera made the pix “red-shifted”, so the caps could have been more brown that brick-red. Originally, I called it H. lateritium, but changed the name today to adjust for the habitat these were found in.
