Observation 148519: Amanita muscaria var. guessowii Veselý
When: 2013-10-15
No herbarium specimen

Notes: I would like to identify these beautiful mushrooms that are growing in my back yard, in rural Western New York. I know very little about mushroom terminology so please excuse my amateurish language.

Sighting date: Oct 8, 2013
The specimen are growing on sandy, well drained soil. Located under Concolor Fir trees. They seem to stay strictly under these trees.
They are growing in a fairly extensive grouping, perhaps 4 feet by 15 feet long.
The tops of the larger examples are 9 inches in diameter.
