Species Lists

These two specimens were found on a decaying log about 2" from each other.Removed to a rock for a better background.
Same two specimens on a log.
Specimen sliced. Neither I nor my camera has the ability to get a closer photo of this. The inside does not seem to be really revealing to me. Does sort of look cauliflower-like to me.

That you came up with any species name for this after all this time is amazing. I have done some looking and there certainly is a resemblance to a couple of other observations on MO. A couple show two different forms together. I am only guessing then that this brown lumpy state is just another form of the species which looks quite different. Certainly wish I had the specimen of this. All I have is the photos taken when I was first looking at fungi. I do not think I have gone to this park again, but I can vaguely remember where I found it. Thanks for your interest. It does rate a “could be”. Sylvia

Thanks for your input. Could be related to the observation you mentioned. I certainly have NO idea how this fits into the fungi world. But very interesting when viewed with a 10x lens. That’s the best I can do.
