Observation 149021: Ganoderma P. Karst.

Curious, colorful, small polypore. Pores .3 to 3mm, very irregular in size; flesh 1-4cm thick; Black to red-black at base, becoming red in stalk, then red to carmine to orange to yellow to white. Whole sporocarp 6-8cm wide, 4-6cm long. Found on ground, in old-growth forest with lots of Western hemlock, Douglas-fir and some pine.


Cap black-red at base, becoming dark red, red, carmine, orange, yellow and white.
Pores .3 to 3mm wide, very variable, white, not bruising.
