Sure looks to be Pleurotus as you say. If Pleurotus, what else could it be? Possibly P. levis if no veil: http://www.bio.utk.edu/mycology/Pleurotus/key.htm Is it possible that there is some variability based on where and how this specimen is growing?

Maybe disappearing but these gills are much more decurrent than is usual for P. dryinus.
