Observation 149039: Boletus zelleri (Murrill) Murrill
When: 2013-10-17
No herbarium specimen

Notes: Two brown capped boletales. Both found in close proximity to 3 large Douglas-fir, 6 feet in diameter. May be two different species, but I kind of think just one.

Cap large, brown, hemiglobal.
Base of stipe with white cottony mycelium. Most of stipe has red streaks on it. with yellow just below hymenium. Cap is small for Boletales: 3 inches across, 5 inches tall.
Second specimen has dull dun cap.
Some red near base of Boletales, but not as much as first specimen. Stipe is larger at base in second specimen, narrowing to cap. Distance between theese two specimens was 6 feet. No other Boletales found.
