In situ. On ground near Eastern Red oak (Quercus palustris).
Cap to 3 inches acrossl white, brown, yellow fibrils.
Scurfy white scales on white stipe. Stipe stained brown where handled. Stip thick at gills, then narrowed, then flared at ground. Light brown gills with white edge.
Free gills. Stipe bruises more and more brown as handled. Scales sluff off easily.
