Add CommentOne thing that would have helped: an approximate size of the fungus. That you had to climb is given. How close did you get to it, though?

cap is brown on top, has white flesh but no gills, and a dark brown stipe that has been predated on. I can’ see any pores on it, but that’s probably what it is. I don’t think we’re going to get further along than Polyporales, though.

it was pretty big, like two hands next to each other… id say just over half a foot wide…
I didnt get that close at all… maybe a few feet of the ground… it was about 12 feet up
