The habitat was deep in the woods next to a river. Growing cespitose about four or five feet up the base of a dead tree. They have a very strong/pleasant aroma unlike any other mushroom I’ve found before. The taste is extremely bitter. Some of the younger fresher specimin were bruising blue/green on the stipe although I could not get it to show up in the pics. I have more pics I will upload. I gave my friend all the specimin to dry. I am sure I could get one back if you areinterested.

what was the habitat?
were these growing in clusters or solitary?
were they growing from the base of a tree, from buried roots or from downed wood??

from what i can tell, the stipe looks extremely thin for G. spectabilis…

do you have any dried specimens?
