But one of those genera is Bisporella itself, where it is B. citrina that fits that description; another of the proposals is deprecated; and you’ve said nothing about size, or the exact manner of the clustering, or fruiting time, or geography …

How many are only about 1-2mm wide, that exact shade of lemon-drop yellow, found in eastern Ontario, fruit Sept.-Oct. in that region, cluster densely (often overlapping) and gregariously often in quite large numbers, and so forth?

And then there’s substrate. These observations are mostly on wood either known or suspected to be pine. And your suggestions’ substrates?

so it is B. citrina

so long as you don’t know of something else that’s clustered, discoid-cupulate, yellow and grows on unburnt wood?? that’s not very scientific, now is it? every one of those name proposals is either a species with those characteristics or a genus which contains species with those characteristics.

It is if there is no exact look-alike that has the same exact habit, the same exact habitat, and an overlapping geographic range, and I’ve heard of no such look-alike in this area for B. citrina. In particular, burnt wood is not the same habitat as the unburnt wood in this observation.

Species ID is impossible without micro.
