A single specimen growing in a moist area under pitch pines.

The specimen is 10.5 cm tall. The cap is 12.5 cm in diameter. The stipe is 8 cm long and 2.5 cm thick on average.

Fragrant odor and mild-tasting flesh.

This mushroom is perhaps too brown to be the matsutake.
