IF this is nobilis, they sure have a wide variety of fruit body forms, from quite robust to delicate as all get out. They are certainly tall here, and according to Mueller and Smith, nobilis is typically one of the largest of the Laccaria sp.

Did these have slightly bulbous bases?

Good meeting you at the IMA talk. I showed this to Greg, and after a little discussion we agree that it has the stature of Laccaria nobilis. You can compare this ID with the micro description in Greg’s Laccaria of North America. If you want to send tissue samples, at some point we can throw them in our tree and confirm the placement. I’ll PM you some details.
