I observed this fungi growing on private land. Limestone rich soils. Disturbed/logged rebounding hardwood habitat. I spotted over a dozen fruit bodies growing in a wood pile of somewhat decayed, old growth, oak trunks, left behind from a logging operation that took place in 1990. I uploaded one not so great photo of the fungi in situ and one photo of the fruit body, dried and cut in half.
