as what Tom Bruns identified as Ramaria violaceibrunnea in http://mushroomobserver.org/85262
Apparently this is the current name for what we find on the Pacific Coast that is related to the R. fennica group.

I thought what we have here is something else…

I thought what we have here on the coast is Ramaria fennica var. something else…
With the slight purple layer of color at the bottom of the brown. And this var. something else, was raised to a new species name recently, or last year? Anyone remember this better?
