Observation 150826: Armillaria badicephala Zeller
When: 2013-10-20

Notes: At or after the 2013 OMS Fall Show, this was provisionally identified as “Tricholoma badicephala”. When I added this Observation to MO I could not find T. badicephala anywhere on the internet. I did find Armillaria badicephala and added that Name to MO, and used it for this observation. Zeller’s description of A. badiicephala is consistent with what I think I see in Richard Tullis’s photo. Zeller says that one might think it’s a Tricholoma, but rejects that possibility.

My vote above is not that this is an Armillaria, but rather that I would prefer to ID this to species level, even if this species is eventually moved to another genus.

Zeller was wrong…

It’s a Tricholoma. This looks okay for it (although maybe a bit coarse-scaled). I can’t tell if it’s that species from the photo.
