Observation 150852: Agaricus campestris L.
When: 2013-11-01

Notes: Cap 6", flat, cracked in center with brown scales toward edge, margin with thin strips of white partial veil, context white, 5/8" thick at widest point, gills 3/8" thick, very close, chocolate brown, not attached to stipe, stipe 3" long, enlarged downward to a bulb, 7/8" thick at top to 1-3/8" thick at bulb. Stipe hollow with small amount of fluffy white pith. Faint sweet almond smell when cut.
Stipe stains slightly brown at base where cut.

Gills are marginate – darker on the edge.

Solitary fruit body 6’ from oak in mowed lawn of Metro station after small rain. No other mushrooms nearby except possible Coprinopsis atramentaria some 40’ away.
