Prior ot becoming active on MO, most of what I had learned about mushroom ID comes from field guides. Arora’s big book is chock full of info, for instance a brief intro to the group classifications of Cortinarius species. But it’s really right here on MO where I have learned lots of stuff piecemeal… by making posts and getting suggestions from people who have specific types of knowlegde. In the case of Telamonia, eharrower (Emma) suggested a species name for one of my Cort posts, and this led me to subgenus Telamonia, which seemed to include types that shared traits with my collection.

Where do you find documentation on subgenus and/or section of various genera?
