Observation 151063: Bjerkandera adusta (Willd.) P. Karst.

White, rubbery, dry shelf on rotting log near trail with velvety gray underside. Spores, if visible, are very small, possibly round. Aroma sweet, fragrant, like Lactarius camphoratus. Has same coloration and texture as Kretzschmaria deusta.

That is way cool. The name did occur to me, but the photo in Barron shows highly zoned shelves. I should have checked observations on MO which look very similar to mine here. It is great to find a new species for my life list.
