Observation 151110: Leccinum largentii Thiers
When: 2013-11-02

Notes: The old timer that I ran into told me he’d been mushrooming here for 30 years. he called these scaber stalks. Kind of hard for me to identify specifically. They grow under huckleberry bushes near beach pines in sandy soil. Easily one of my favorites now that I know about them. Very tasty fresh or cooked. Even my young daughter liked these. Staining grey when cut.
