If it were on grass I would say that its an overgrown Marismius oreades, but because its on wood and has a dark stem and considering the time of year, I think its possibly and overgrown Mycena. Did you smell it? How did the stalk feel (hard or brittle?)

It is, T.

The mushroom has recurved itself so that the gills have maximum exposure for releasing spores. The top of the cap is now the center.
