Notes: The cap was dry and tan.
The stipe had no reticulation, was smooth, and was yellow at the apex but burgundy from mid-point down to base.
The sponge instantly stained dark blue upon handling or cutting. When cut in half lengthwise, the inside of cap and stem stained blue immediately.
Taste: very bitter.
