Observation 151238: Amanita polypyramis (Berk. & M.A. Curtis) Sacc.
When: 2013-11-01
No herbarium specimen

Notes: This was a very large white mushroom growing in the dirt on the side of a ridge. I could not get to it. The large mushroom was large as a dinner plate, at least 10-11 inches across.

Deep white gills. The stalk is hollow and very large. It was broken when I saw it, like it couldn’t support the cap. The stalk was about 1.5 inches across at the break and about 3 inches across at the base.

The small, young mushroom was about 7-8 inches across the cap.
