Notes: In soil under Douglas fir-tanoak-madrone canopy. Aroma and taste are mild. Stipe has rose-pink tint, cap is dark liver colored.

Russula xerampelina isn’t really identified by its colours, just by bruising brownish and the (awkward) smell of shellfish when old and on drying. Does that match this one?
