No herbarium specimen

Notes: These were identified at the 2008 MSSF Fungus Fair. I couldn’t find much about them except they appear in Roger Phillips’ Mushrooms and other fungi of Great Britain & Europe.

E. aprile is listed in Largent’s monograph. The specificity is the acutely umbonate pileus. Beyond that the fleshy Entoloma are not very easy to tell apart. Of course, notes on odor and taste are critical.

according to one of the google image references, one of the European “folk” definitions for this sp. is the “straight-stalked” entoloma.
it’s pretty and seems distinctive, but wonder how the determination was made.
