I’ve attached photos of the spores both in KOH and Melzers. The photos were taken under the same settings with no enhancements.
I did not notice any difference when adding the Melzers to the spores and I think the slightly darker color(not red) of the Melzers photo is just due to the darker solution properties vs the colorless KOH.
I did consider Hebeloma incarnatulum per the Trudell & Ammirati book, but none of these had any evidence of a bulb at the base of the stem.
cheilocsytidia? Did you check the spores in melzers?
