Observation 15318: Trametes versicolor (L.) Lloyd
When: 2008-10-18
No herbarium specimen

Notes: 35°38’2.61"N 83°41’56.05"W, el. 735 m. I just learned about the importance of checking for pores on the underside a few days ago to distinguish, for instance, between Trametes and Stereum. I don’t know if this fungus had them or not, but I will certainly be more aware of that in the future. The plant in the upper left corner is showing a pure white undersurface, consistent with Trametes versicolor.
