Observation 15319: Trametes versicolor (L.) Lloyd
When: 2008-10-18
No herbarium specimen

Notes: 35°38’2.61"N 83°41’56.05"W, el. 735 m. Hmmm. There are 10 photos in this series, but they really don’t show very different views or any leaves for reference. I would guess that the largest caps might be about 6 cm wide. I already have a 10x lens in my camera bag. Perhaps I need a ruler and notebook as well.

I’ll stand by my first suggestion then.
Btw, don’t forget to take a (close) shot on the other side of the caps in the future, that makes it easier to decide if it’s a polypore or a corticioid fungus.

How big are these caps?

Extreme close-ups could make an ID complicated :-)
