Observation 154068: Conocybe Fay.
When: 2013-12-01
( 701m)
No herbarium specimen

Notes: 2013120102

I don’t like posting observations titled “agaricales”, but as of right now all I am sure of is that this is a gilled mushroom.

This mushroom was fresh, and collected in dry conditions. I haven’t been able to get a spore print.

Yes, I dried the sample. If it would help your project, I would be glad to send it to you.

I was convinced I had something special when I found it, and scoured the area thoroughly but could not find more.

Habitat was a power line easement. Nearest trees are fir, approximately 50 feet away. The area had been recently disturbed by an excavator or a caterpillar. The ground where this mushroom fruited was not torn up, but had been driven over.

Did you dry it?

Did you save and dry this one? Yes, I need to get going on publishing this as a new species. It would be good to have more specimens if possible. Take a look around near the area, there might be more.

Can you dry the specimen? Did you record any odor? It looks like it was growing near a conifer.
