Strobilurus trullisatus as seen in the wild. Picture is a little out of focus and I apologize for that. (It is the only picture of the mushroom I have while it was still fresh.)

Recognized by sight: It was a small white mushroom growing on a fallen pine cone. White cap, well spaced gills, and yellow stipe.
Used references: My specimen seemed to match the features described in “Mushroom’s Demystified.”
