Observation 155580: Lyophyllum decastes (Fr.) Singer
When: 2013-12-03
(32.5228° -94.7922° 90m)
No herbarium specimen

Notes: Spore Print very white

Growing on the ground in a city park next to a closed off park road.

These mushrooms were growing in several “clumps” in the pine area near of many Amanitas. There were also Russula species nearby. The is a grove of old tall short-leaf and Loblolly Pine. The ground was thick with pine straw and little to no understory.

The stems seemed short ( the caps were barely above the pine straw) and joined at a common base for groups of 3-5.

I collected spore and the print was white. The stem was thick and very fibrous, hollow and broke up easily. When the cap was broken it exuded no liquid. I don’t have any photos of the broken cap.
