Observation 155643: Amanita polypyramis (Berk. & M.A. Curtis) Sacc.

When: 2013-12-14

Collection location: Ocala National Forest, Marion Co., Florida, USA [Click for map]

Who: Justin (Tmethyl)

Specimen available

Notes:
A beautiful mushroom found underneath a pine tree, but also mixed oaks in the area. The annulus is beautiful. Also, I found strange that the scent of this Amanita is quite special, it is clearly and vividly sweet, just like stuffing your face into a bag of fruit loops cereol, or close to the fresh blooms of a Tea Olive shrub. Strikingly sweet.
No bruising noticed. Quit large, about 8" from volva to pileus.

I created a sort of mycological striptease, below.
Enjoy, fellow mycophiles.
