i think the wood type might be cypress.

Probably Index Fungorum may not be up to date. Even stranger is the Fr. Singer species should be Phaeolepiota aurea! The Smith species is listed as G. junonius.

why isn’t Gymnopilus spectabilis recognized on MO as a “valid species…?”
especially after Holec’s paper?
