Slime mold?

From afar in the field, it look like some sort of lichen. When photographing, I was almost certain they’re insect eggs. But under microscope, it seems to be a slime mold. I lack the equipment to make a magnified photo, but the innards of those sacs look a bit like a poppy cake – black “poppy seeds” interspersed with white hyphae-like things.
