Observation 157881: Corticiaceae sensu lato

Silvery membrane less than 1 mm thick – almost rubbery, loosly attached to large decortated oak log suspended 12" above ground.

Recognized by sight: Corticiaceae, Corticiales and Corticium (s.l.) were once the names used to encompass all crust fungi. that notion is outdated. Corticiaceae sensu lato effectively refers to the “crusts” while respecting the polyphyletic nature of the various fungi sharing this body form.
