CA coastal records of Boletopsis are rare. Just a few Mendocino Co. records, (most of the Humboldt fair records on here were collected inland.) There was a 1914 collection from Trinidad, and some Marin and Sonoma Co records in the 1920’s.
Yes, growth with spruce, black cap when young, fading slightly. But there appear to be a lot of undescribed species in the west, probably including this one.
