Notes: Cap 15-40mm across, convex when young, soon irregular and uplifted, surface dry, Gills ocher-orange at first, developing rusty-red spots and stains, and becoming rusty-brown in age.
Stipe 30-85 mm long, 3-7 mm thick at apex, equal or enlarged slightly at base, surface dry, finely fibrillose. Partial veil a thin yellowish cortina, leaving a evanescent annular zone.
Taste and odor not distinctive.
KOH bright wine-red on cap and stipe, orangish on stipe flesh, brownish on cap flesh.
Solitary, scattered, or in small clusters on the ground in swampy area under willow
