Observation 15844: Guepiniopsis alpina (Tracy & Earle) Brasf.

No herbarium specimen

Notes: This was growing all over the place in the subalpine to alpine. Smallish (up to 1 inch max), gelatinous, orange to reddish, generally pendulous, translucent interior, completely smooth (no fibers, hairs, texture of any sort). I assume this is a cosmopolitan species, probably even the same species I’ve seen in North Carolina… Growing on hardwood, mostly Nothofagus, of course, because that forms 90% of these forests!
