Observation 158499: Chroogomphus (Singer) O.K. Mill.
When: 2014-01-24
No herbarium specimen

Notes: Near lots of Suillus pungens. See observation 158496.
The several-acre habitat had abundant S. pungens, almost all of which were putrifying and disgusting. There were a fair number of Chroogomphus, almost all past their prime.
Gill cystidia were examined microscopically by Peter Werner, who reports that they were thick-walled.
